With a 4-judge configuration, at least 2 votes were needed for an act to advance. The top 2 from the 'AGT Superfans' vote automatically advanced, while the acts finishing in 3rd, 4th and 5th faced off in the Judges' Choice for the third spot. In each preliminary episode, three acts advanced to a Semifinal round. In Champions 2, there was a twist in regards to the voting. The act that received a Golden Buzzer in each of the four preliminary episodes advanced straight to the Final. There was one Golden Buzzer per show, so four judges equals four Golden Buzzers. Filming took place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on October 3, 6, 10, 12, 15, 18, and 21, 2019.
